Mike spent more than twenty years as a freelance writer, writing more than 1000 magazine short stories, serial and series episodes, in a variety of genres from romance to mystery and supernatural. He also published many historical and western novels, and had a number of radio plays broadcast.
In the early 1990s he undertook several projects in association with academic partners, using his computer programming and writing skills to manage research data and produce interim and final reports. Realising the communications potential offered by the internet in the mid 1990s, he adapted his technical and creative skills to design and edit websites, and began exploring the possibilities of e-commerce.
In a synthesis of all these interests, in addition to writing, he now uses his wide knowledge of literature of all kinds to seek out and sell vintage books from Thames Books, the online bookstore which he designed himself. He is also currently a Trustee of the Battersea Society, and has designed and manages that charity's popular website.
Drawing on these varied skills Mike provides advice on
- creative writing
- web hosting & design
He is also able to offer report-writing and ghostwriting services.
